Luisito Comunica

Luisito Comunica is a YouTube channel created by Mexican host Luis Arturo Villar Sudek in 2012. Work on the channel began in Mexico City after earlier projects with video sketch collectives. Episodes focus on international travel logs, street food tastings, supermarket price comparisons, and neighborhood tours.

Early video uploads in 2012 followed Villar Sudek's departure from the digital creator collective NoMeRevientes. Content centered on street interviews with pedestrians in Mexico City before expanding into international travel logs. In 2018, the channel passed 10 million subscribers, receiving YouTube's Diamond Creator Award. Video entries documented journeys to locations such as the Chernobyl exclusion zone in Ukraine, public markets in Venezuela, and grocery stores in Japan. On April 6, 2020, Guinness World Records certified the channel at 30,700,000 subscribers for the highest subscriber count on a Spanish-language comedy channel.

Publishing house Penguin Random House released his book Lugares Asombrosos in 2019, compiling travel stories from his video expeditions. In 2020, the host branched into podcasting by launching En Cortinas con Luisito alongside co-host Berth Oh, recording long-form interviews with internet personalities and musicians. That same year, Villar Sudek partnered with creator Juanpa Zurita to produce the documentary Aislado: un documental en cuarentena, detailing isolation during lockdowns. Paramount Pictures chose him in 2020 to voice the title character in the Latin American Spanish dub of Sonic the Hedgehog, returning for the 2022 film sequel.

Public scrutiny arose in August 2020 when an Instagram photograph showing a bottle of mezcal next to his partner Arianny Tenorio drew widespread criticism on social media, leading Villar Sudek to issue an apology acknowledging that the image was inappropriate. In 2022, Penguin Random House released his second volume, titled Historias Perturbadoras. The World Economic Forum invited him to Davos, Switzerland, in January 2023 as one of six digital video creators selected to report on its annual summit. At the 2018 Eliot Awards in Mexico City, the host received the award for Digital Leader of the Year.
