MrBeast

MrBeast is an American YouTube entertainment and challenge channel created by Jimmy Donaldson in 2012.

Donaldson registered the channel under the handle MrBeast6000 on February 19, 2012, in Greenville, North Carolina. Early content focused on video game walkthroughs and commentary evaluating the popularity of other YouTube personalities. In January 2017, Donaldson published a breakthrough video of himself counting continuously to 100,000, which required 40 hours of recording. The channel subsequently transitioned to high-budget stunt videos, cash giveaways, and endurance competitions with friends and collaborators.

Staging large-scale events became a hallmark of the productions, including a November 2021 recreation of the television drama Squid Game that distributed $456,000 in prize money to 456 participants. Global fundraising initiatives grew out of the channel, beginning in October 2019 when Donaldson co-founded Team Trees with Mark Rober, raising over $20 million to plant 20 million trees. In October 2021, the pair launched Team Seas, which raised over $30 million to remove marine debris from oceans and rivers. The main channel reached 100 million subscribers in July 2022 and surpassed T-Series in June 2024.

Industry awards recognized the channel across multiple ceremonies. The Streamy Awards named Donaldson Creator of the Year for four consecutive years between 2020 and 2023. At the 2022 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, the channel won Favorite Male Creator, a title Donaldson secured again in 2023 and 2024. In 2020, the 10th Streamy Awards presented the channel with the Social Good: Creator award for the Team Trees campaign. YouTube awarded Donaldson the Red Diamond Creator Award in 2022 for passing the 100 million subscriber milestone.
