Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend

Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend is an American comedy interview podcast hosted by Conan O'Brien, launched in November 2018. He records it with his longtime assistant Sona Movsesian and producer Matt Gourley.

O'Brien started the podcast through his company Team Coco with the Earwolf network while he was still hosting his late-night show Conan on TBS. In May 2022, SiriusXM bought Team Coco and its podcasts. In each interview, O'Brien talks with an actor, comedian, writer or musician to find out whether they could become real friends away from show business. Episodes end with unscripted banter between O'Brien, Movsesian and Gourley about office mishaps, their own quirks and letters from listeners.

In April 2021, O'Brien added Conan O'Brien Needs a Fan, a companion series in which he talks with listeners from around the world over video calls. These calls gave rise to his 2024 travel series Conan O'Brien Must Go, in which he visits some of those fans in their home countries. In May 2023, the podcast aired a four-part reading of an unmade screenplay, The Lost Hans and Franz Movie. On December 15, 2023, O'Brien recorded an episode with President Joe Biden at the White House.

The podcast won Best Comedy Podcast at the 2020 iHeartRadio Podcast Awards and the Ambie for Best Comedy Podcast in 2021. Live episodes were recorded before theater audiences in New York City and at the SiriusXM Garage in Los Angeles, with guests such as Stephen Colbert, Tracy Morgan and Ed Sheeran.
