Crime Junkie

Crime Junkie is an American true crime podcast created by Ashley Flowers, first released in December 2017. Flowers hosts it from Indianapolis, Indiana, with her childhood friend Brit Prawat.

Before the podcast, Flowers worked at a hospital and sat on the board of Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. She also presented Murder Monday, a 20-minute segment about criminal cases on the Indianapolis radio station RadioNOW 100.9. She released the first episode of Crime Junkie in December 2017 through her own company, audiochuck, and by 2019 she had left the hospital to run the company full-time.

Episodes of 30 to 60 minutes cover unsolved murders, missing persons and serial killers. Flowers researches each case and tells it in the order of events, while Prawat asks the questions a listener might have. A typical story walks through the timeline, the evidence the police gathered and the suspects. In 2019, after accusations that some episodes used other journalists' reporting without credit, several episodes were removed from the feed.

The podcast was nominated for Best Crime Podcast and Podcast of the Year at the 2020 iHeartRadio Podcast Awards, and again for Podcast of the Year in 2022. In 2020, Flowers founded the nonprofit Season of Justice, which gives grants to police departments and families to pay for DNA testing in cold cases. Audiochuck went on to release other true crime podcasts, among them Park Predators, about crimes in American national parks, and RedBall.
