La Pija y la Quinqui

La Pija y la Quinqui is a Spanish interview podcast created and hosted by Carlos Peguer and Mariang Maturana that began in 2022. The two friends launched the project in Madrid on January 30, 2022, as an independent audio and video series.

The hosts recorded the 27 episodes of the first season inside a kitchen in Madrid using consumer microphones and published them to YouTube and audio apps. Episodes run for about 60 minutes and follow unscripted conversations about youth culture, relationships, social media, and modern life. Musician Rosalía appeared on the season one finale on July 31, 2022. In September 2022, the series joined Spotify under an exclusive distribution agreement for its second season, recording in a dedicated studio facility before expanding distribution to additional platforms in later seasons.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez appeared on the show on July 16, 2023, during an election campaign to discuss music playlists and youth culture. Singer Aitana joined the hosts for an episode in November 2022, and musician Nathy Peluso recorded a guest interview in December 2022. In October 2023, online retail company Zalando became the official sponsor for the third season of 40 episodes. The hosts also recorded live episodes in front of audiences at cultural events, including the Estación Podcast festival in Madrid in May 2023.

The podcast won Best Podcast at the Premios Ídolo in March 2023 and received the same award again at the March 2024 ceremony. In April 2024, the show earned a nomination for Best Host at the Premios Ondas Globales del Podcast. Both hosts expanded into radio, writing for the morning radio show Cuerpos Especiales on Europa FM. Maturana and Peguer toured Spanish theaters with live stage shows and appeared on stage at the Málaga Film Festival in March 2025.
